Kite:
A form of communication in prison. A process of throwing a string out of one cell and “fishing” for it from another cell with a weighted string. Often these lines have notes attached to the end which gives them the look of a small kite. The use of kite has become ubiquitous in prison life, to the extent that it’s also used by the prison staff in some prisons, where an official request (usually written) is sometimes referred to as a kite.
